SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco volleyball team (7-5) recorded its third straight victory with a 3-0 win over Northern Arizona Friday evening at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:

San Francisco persevered past a furious Northern Arizona rally in the first set, holding on for a 31-29 win after leading by seven points at 18-11 earlier in the set. With the match tied at 29, Katariina Korhonen recorded a kill, and Laura Amaro finished the frame with a service ace to give the green and gold the early lead.
The Dons continued their momentum in the second frame, extending the advantage in the match with a 25-20 victory. In a tightly contested set, San Francisco used a 7-1 scoring run to take an 18-12 lead. Petra Fritz and Hokulani Perez led the Dons, combining for six kills throughout the run. Despite a slight comeback from the Lumberjacks in the later stages of the set, the green and gold recorded two of the final three points to secure the second set.
San Francisco completed the sweep with a third-set victory, 25-22. The Dons took the lead for good at 14-13 after coming back from a two-point deficit, the Lumberjacks' largest lead of the set.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

Korhonen impressed on both sides of the ball, recording 14 kills and 13 digs for her third double-double in the last four matches. Posting an efficient offensive performance, she totaled a .333 hitting percentage while committing four attack errors on 30 attempts.
Fritz extended her team-leading season kill total to 173 after recording 18 to pace San Francisco offensively. Her .317 hitting percentage during the sweep marked the fifth time she has hit .300 or better this season.
Jordan Smart also recorded a double-double for the third time this season with a team-best 26 assists and 13 digs.
Laura Amaro led the backline for the green and gold with a season-high 18 digs, surpassing her previous best of 15 set against Temple on September 4.

San Francisco closes its nonconference slate when it hosts California Baptist at noon on Saturday, Sept. 19, in the final match of the USF Challenge at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center.
