Legates Named WCC Freshman of the Week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Following a successful week at the GCU Invitational, Adelynn Legates of the University of San Francisco volleyball team has been named West Coast Conference Freshman of the Week, announced by the league Monday afternoon.
In a 3-1 week, Legates posted impressive numbers at the setter position, totaling 49 assists, 18 digs, 4.90 assists per set, and three service aces. Beginning the week in San Francisco's dominant sweep over CSU Bakersfield in the home opener, Legates recorded her first-career double-double with 14 assists and 10 digs.
At the GCU Invitational last weekend, the freshman from Los Altos, Calif., also registered double-digit assists in the final two matches of the tournament, highlighted by 15 in a straight-sets win at Grand Canyon on Saturday, Sept. 5.
Through seven matches this season, Legates ranks second on the team and 11th in the WCC in total assists with 84 and is seventh in the conference at 5.25 assists per set. She is one of only nine players in the WCC averaging at least 5.00 assists per set this season.
For San Francisco, this weekly award marks the first for the team this season.
