2011 WEST COAST CONFERENCE ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
2011-2012 SEASON: Capped USF Career by finishing with a 13-18 singles mark and 7-16 doubles record.
SINGLES: Defeated Tommie Murphy of No. 13 California (6-3, 6-1) for first win of season (10/1/11)… Posted two wins against No. 37 Fresno State…. Played in No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 positions… Went 0-1 in No. 4 position, 1-1 in No. 5 position, and 12-16 in No. 6 position.
DOUBLES: Beat Tommie Murphy and Andrew Scholnick of No. 13 California alongside Germain Bahri 8-6 for first win of season (10/28/11)… played every match with the exception of two out of the No. 3 position… registered two back-to-back wins on season… beat Todd Volmari and Felix Van Kann of LMU 9-8 in last win of season (4/25/12).
AT USF 2010-2011:
SINGLES: Posted 15-13 record in singles… competed at No. 3 (3-1), No. 4 (2-7), No. 5 (4-2), and No. 6 (1-1)… ended season with convincing win against Saad Benkirane of Saint Mary’s – 6-2, 1-6, 6-4 (4/23/11)… posted victories against two ranked schools (No. 57 University of Louisiana at Lafayette and No. 56 University of Oregon)… went 5-2 to start the season, including a four-match win streak from 10/16/10-11/6/10.
DOUBLES: Posted 17-6 record in 24 matches… recorded five-match win streak, including triumphs over No. 57 University of Louisiana at Lafayette and No. 52 Cal Poly from 3/7/11-4/3/11… played out of the No. 2 and No. 3 spots.
AT USF 2009-10:
SINGLES: Posted 6-9 record in singles play during sophomore season… won in convincing fashion over Scott Gaynor of No. 40 Sonoma State University, 6-0 and 6-1 (3/21/10).
DOUBLES: Went 3-9 in doubles play, but posted two wins over ranked schools (No. 46 UCSB and No. 40 Sonoma State University).
AT USF 2008-09: Participated in the Fresno State Bulldog Classic and the ITA Northwest Regional during the fall...posted a 5-3 record playing No. 5 singles during the dual match season...in doubles action, played in three matches, teaming with Tommy Tu at No. 3 twice and Torin Ching once at No. 1.
PERSONAL: Born on February 15th, 1989 in Snaroya, Norway... parents are Sten Hartwig and Elisabeth Foss Havig-Gjelseth... has three sisters, Kathinka, Henriette and Nora... is a graduate of Wang Toppidrett High School... prior to USF he won the Norwegian Championships for teams and got to the quarterfinals of three ITF tournaments... enjoys golf, soccer and hanging out with friends... majoring in Business Administration.
