The 1990 Dons reclaimed the West Coast Conference and in the process captured their seventh league title in ten years. Future All-American Todd Fischer was a sophomore in 1990 and by the end of the year he had racked up eight rounds of par or better, three top-10 finishes and seven top-20 finishes.
The WCC championship was held at Half Moon Bay Golf Links. The Dons won the team competition with a combined score of 894. USF’s John McMullen won the WCC individual title with a score of 2 over par, 218 for the three day event.
Did You Know? USF Hall-of-Famer Todd Fischer was a sophomore in 1990. As a freshman the prior season, his best score was in Hawaii where he shot a 221, 15 strokes better than future PGA star Phil Mickelson. That year, Fischer scored his first hole-in-one at the U.S. Amateur on a par-3, 143-yarder using a 9 iron.
