2023-24 (SENIOR):

  • Appeared in 32 games for the Dons, totaling averages of 2.1 points and 1.8 rebounds in 12.3 minutes per contest
  • Tallied season-highs in points and three-pointers on 12/6/23 at Vanderbilt, scoring 9 points on 3 made threes
  • Became the all-time wins leader in program history with the Dons’ victory on 2/24/24 against Pepperdine, his 99th career victory

2022-23 (JUNIOR, retains year due to COVID-19 eligibility):

  • Appeared in all 34 games for the Dons, making 32 starts, averaging 4.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 21.1 minutes per contest for the season
  • Shot a team-high and a career-high 44.8% from three-point range, making a career-high 30 three-point field goals in the season
  • Tied his season high in points in the Dons’ first WCC tournament game against Pacific, scoring 15 points on 6/10 shooting with 3 made three-pointers
  • Made the go-ahead three-point field goal in double-overtime in the Dons’ WCC tournament quarterfinal win against Santa Clara, giving San Francisco a 2-point lead, which they maintained for the rest of the game

2021-22 (JUNIOR): 

  • Played in 34 games started in 2 games…averaged 4.3 points per game...received his first start of the year in the semifinal round of the WCC Tournament.
  • Shot 30 percent from behind the arc (25-82)...shot 40 percent overall from the field (49-121).
  • Averaged 3.3 rebounds per game with a total of 113 rebounds...recorded a total of 27 assists.
  • Recorded a season high in minutes played in a game (33) against Towson.

2020-21 (SOPHOMORE):

  • Played in 25 games making 21 starts...logged 696 minutes which was third on the team...averaged 27.9 minutes per contest. 
  • Finished the year with 127 points, averaging 5.1 points per contest.
  • Finished second on the team with 125 rebounds, averaging 5.0 rebounds per game. 
  • Shot 37.3 percent from the field (44-118) and 34.8 percent from 3-point range (24-for-69)
  • Finished in double figures three times, scored a season-high 11 points twice, first in the win over Nevada on Dec. 2 and again at home against Saint Mary's on Jan. 23. 
  • Grabbed a season-best 11 rebounds in the win over Portland on Jan. 14...had 16 games with five or more rebounds on the year.
  • In the win over No. 4 Virginia he had eight points and seven rebounds was 2-for-2 from beyond the arc. 

2019-20 (FRESHMAN):
  • Played in 34 games making 24 starts…the 34 games played is tied for eighth most in USF single season history.
  • USF went 16-8 with Kunen in the starting lineup.
  • Made his collegiate debut on Nov. 5 in the win over Sonoma State scoring nine points and grabbing seven rebounds.
  • Finished the season averaging 4.4 points per game and recording 5.5 rebounds per game.
  • The 5.5 rebounds per contest was second on the team as was his 187 total rebounds…
  • Scored a season-high 16 points in the win over UC Davis on De. 21.
  • Finished the season with five games in double figures.
  • Recorded two double-doubles on the year…the first came against Arizona State on Dec. 3 with 10 points and 10 rebounds..the second came against Santa Clara (13 pts, 12 reb.)…the 12 rebounds against the Broncos was a season-high.
  • Ffinished the season shooting 47.1 percent from the field (56-for-119)…shot 87.9 percent from the free throw line (29-for-33).
  • Shot 34.6 percent from beyond the arc going 9-for-26…began the year 0-for-7 from 3-point range and finished the year 9-for-19 (47.3).
  • Finished with 35 assists and 13 steals along with eight blocks.

HIGH SCHOOL: 
  • Kunen hails from Ballarat in Victoria and attended the Centre of Excellence.
  • Played for Victoria at the Australian U20 Championships.
  • He averaged 6.7 points per game, 9.0 rebounds per game and 1.7 blocks per contest while shooting 42 percent from the field and 82 percent from the free throw line as he helped his squad win gold...
  • As a prep, he helped his school win the Australian School Championships in 2017.
  • Averaged 11.4 points per game and 9.0 rebounds per contest while dishing out 3.2 assists and shot 52.3 percent from the field.

  • Born November 11, 2000.
  • Mother is Elizabeth Cho. He is the oldest of four siblings Buomkuoth (14), Nyamal (12), Nyalat (8), and Nyamer (3).
  • Shoots left handed but writes right handed. 
  • Outside of basketball his hobbies include watching movies and hanging out with friends. 
  • His favorite Australian basketball player is Ben Simmons - Josh went to the same high school as Simmons. 
  • First sport growing up was soccer which he stopped playing when he started to grow.
