Gerald Eilers was born on January 19, 1942 in Portland, Oregon but spent most of his life in California.
Athletic, strong-willed and determined, Jerry received a full-ride baseball scholarship to University of San Francisco where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics. Upon graduation in 1964, he opened the Grass Valley Longs Drugs in 1980 and remained the store Manager until his retirement in 2007.
He served in the Grass Valley Chamber of Commerce and volunteered his time coaching not only his grandchildren but many local youths in basketball, softball and golf. An avid golfer and member of Alta Sierra Country Club, he won the club championship many times.
Jerry was an accomplished painter. Many artistic inspirations for his watercolors came from his other interests of hiking and camping.
