Wong, a junior from Oakdale High School in Oakdale, CA, has appeared in 12 career events, eight as a freshman and four as a sophomore.  In her sophomore campaign, she posted a stroke average of 76.3.  In her freshman season, she finished tied for fourth at the Sacramento State Invitational. 
 
"Mabel had surgery this past August so I have actually never seen her play golf!" said Head Coach Sara Doell. "I know from her past experiences and numbers that she is extremely talented and I look forward to having her back on the course soon. She has worked very hard in the gym and with our athletic performance staff to recover from her surgery and we hope she will be playing again this spring. I am thankful that Mabel is only a junior so we will have a full year of her competing for us next year as a senior!"
 
2018-2019 (SENIOR): Did not appear in any tournaments in her senior season.

2017-2018 (JUNIOR):  Did not appear in any tournaments in her junior season. 

2016-2017 (SOPHOMORE): Played in four events and finished with a stroke average of 76.3…narrowly missed a top-10 finish at the Ptmarmigan Ram Fall Classic where she finished tied for 11th at 220 (75-70-75)…her second round 70 (-2) was the third-lowest round turned in by a USF player on the season…tied for 40th at the Juli Inkster Invitational after rounds of 76-80-79…rounds of 76-76-75 led to a 57th place finish at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate…tied for 79th at the Stanford Intercollegiate (80-78-158) which was her last tournament of the season.

2015-2016 (FRESHMAN): Played in eight of 10 events and finished with a stroke average of 76.0…best finish was a t-4th at the Sacramento State Invitational…was in the lineup for all four fall events…best fall finish came at the Rose City Collegiate, where she t-14th with a 5-over score of 221 (72-78-71)…final round 71 was her lowest round of the season…played in four of six fall events…turned in rounds of 75-76-73 to earn a share of fourth place at 8-over 224.

HIGH SCHOOL AND AMATEUR: Attended Oakdale High School…played one year of high school golf…was one of the top junior players in Northern California…posted three wins on the Junior Golf Association of Northern California Tour in 2013…placed first at the prestigious JGANC/NCGA Nor Cal Players Championship on Rancho Canada’s East Course in Carmel…also won the TPC Stonebrae Junior Open and the Bumgardner Junior Open at Del Rio Country Club in Modesto…2013 JGANC Northern California Points champion…earned 2012 JGANC Player of the Year honors…represented Northern California in the U.S. Girls’ Juniors and in the 2013 Girls’ America Cup….shot a low competitive round of 66 at the 2015 First Tee Life Skills and Leadership Tournament at Victory Links Golf Club in Blaine, MN….also carded a 68 in the 2013 Nor Cal Players Championship at Rancho Canada.

 
PERSONAL: Full name is Mabel Wong…born Dec. 17, 1996 in Visalia, CA ...parents are Sunny and Kwong…has one older brother, Danny…home course is Creekside Golf Course in Modesto…lists Pebble Beach Golf Links as her favorite course and TPC Sawgrass as the course she would most like to play…dream foursome includes Michelle Wie, Tiger Woods and Lexi Thompson…lists Lexi Thompson as her favorite golfer…enjoys country music, playing various instruments, writing songs, playing table tennis and pool…introduced to the game of golf through the First Tee of Modesto…gifted musician who plays guitar and saxophone…was lead guitarist for Oakdale’s jazz band…very involved in student activities at Oakdale…club advisor for Students in Action (anti-bullying)…served as student body vice president in 2010-2011…PHAST club member, a youth coalition dedicated to Protecting Health and Slamming Tobacco by organizing peer education groups and advocacy projects…Founder and Editor-in-Chief of the Cougar Chronicles…also served as a student conflict resolver…placed third in California’s Science Olympiad.
