ABOUT EDEAN IHLANFELDT: Edean Ihlanfeldt is the woman
responsible for launching the women's golf team at
Washington, and she never took a dime for the job she loved so much
during her coaching career. When Washington expanded its athletic
lineup to include women's sports, Kit Green hired Ihlanfeldt,
one of the area's top players, to coach the Huskies. Armed
with an envelope of names and addresses of women who signed up to
play, she started the program in 1974 before retiring seven years
later in 1981 at the age of 50.
