Young Dons Bring Energy and Talent to the New Pitch at Negoesco Stadium

(San Francisco) – USF men's soccer kicked off its preparations for the 2010 season with the first two training sessions of the year Monday on the new ProTurf at Negoesco Stadium. The Dons feature a roster loaded with talented newcomers to go along with an experienced mix of veteran players in what promises to be an exciting season of soccer on the Hilltop.

San Francisco welcomes back just six upperclassmen, headlined by senior forward Bryan Burke – a 2009 All-West Coast Conference Second Team selection – and senior midfielder Victor Cortez, who captured honorable mention accolades from the league coaches last season. In addition to Burke and Cortez, a trio of seniors will be counted on for leadership. Three-year starter defender Justin Warren enjoyed a breakthrough season as a junior as did defender Rafai Eddy. Forward Jeff Penna also looks for a strong finish to his career up top for the Green and Gold.

USF enters camp with more than 35 on its active roster, which includes more than 20 newcomers. The 2010 Dons roster features five international student-athletes.
