(San Francisco) – USF
soccer held its annual Negoesco Scrimmage Saturday at Negoesco
Stadium showcasing the tradition of the past and the promise of the
future for one of college soccer's most storied programs.
NSCAA Hall of Fame Coach Steve Negoesco was on hand to watch the
alumni match and the intrasquad scrimmage between the Green and
White teams.
In the opening match the
Green team held on for a 4-3 decision against the Gold squad of
past Don soccer greats. Following the opening contest a barbecue
was hosted by the Soccer Leadership Group.
Now entering his 10th
season as the head coach of the USF program and his 32nd overall
representing the Green and Gold, head coach Erik Visser, introduced
the 2010 Dons and gave a brief preview of the upcoming season.
During the scrimmage, the
White team, comprised of all returning players, took a 2-0 win
against the Green squad representing the exciting batch of
newcomers on the Hilltop. After a scoreless opening half, senior
forward Bryan
Burke scored in the 51st minute and then sophomore defender Brian McEvoy
added another in the 74th minute.
REGULAR SEASON
OPENER ON THE HORIZON: USF men's soccer kicks off the 2010
regular season Friday, September 3 when it welcomes Northwestern to
the Hilltop. Match time against the Wildcats is set for 8:00
PM.
OLAVSON TO BE
INDUCTED INTO USF HALL OF FAME: Dag Olavson will be one of
four USF Athletic standouts inducted into the 51st Father Hub Flynn
Athletics Hall of Fame Banquet October 23, 2010. For tickets, log

per person or $450 per table of 10. The deadline for early

A prolific offensive
weapon, Dag Olavson helped USF to a pair of NCAA Championships
(1978, 80) and finished his career as the all-time leader in points
(128) and ranked second in goals (48) and assists (32). During his
standout career in the Green and Gold, the Dons posted a remarkable
99-8-4 record for a .910 winning percentage. Olavson registered a
career-high 17 goals as a sophomore.
The Father Hub Flynn Hall of Fame is one of the highlights
of the 2010 FallFest at the University of San Francisco. For more
