(San Francisco) – USF men's basketball welcomes 6-5, 185
wing Charles Standifer Jr. (Roseville, CA) as the newest member of
its family head coach Rex Walters announced today. Standifer has
accepted an aid package to attend USF and will compete for the Dons
in the upcoming 2010-11 campaign.
"I am happy to announce that Charles Standifer will be joining the
2010-11 San Francisco Dons Basketball Program," Walters said. "We
are very fortunate to be able to get Charles this late in the year.
Charles will bring something to our program in terms of offensive
skills, a slashing scorer with athleticism and explosiveness, as
well as a threat to score from the perimeter. Charles comes from a
good high school program (Capital Christian HS), AAU program (Play
Hard - Play Smart) and most importantly good parents. We are
excited to welcome Charles Standifer Jr. to the Hilltop!"
Standifer enjoyed an outstanding senior campaign at Capital
Christian High School, averaging a double-double with 24.8 points
to go along with 10.5 rebounds per game. An accomplished shooter,
Standifer connected at a .560 (273-491) clip from the field and
helped the Cougars post a 20-7 record in 2008-09.
As a junior, Standifer played at Woodcreek High School, averaging
16.0 points per game. Following his prep career, Standifer attended
the Bridgton Academy. A member of the Play Hard – Play Smart
club team, Standifer was a top-10 selection in the 2009 Rumble in
the Bay Tournament.
