(San Francisco) - Monday, the University of San Francisco baseball program hosted its annual Scout Day at Benedetti Diamond. Nearly 40 Major League Baseball scouts were in attendance to watch the Dons practice and scrimmage.

Since 2000, 33 Dons have been selected by professional organizations, including Joe Nelson, Aaron Poreda, Justin Speier, Jeff Harris, Jermaine Clark, Jesse Fopert and Scott Cousins, all who have seen time in the major leagues since 2005.

In total, 21 former USF baseball players have seen playing time in the major leagues.

The annual Scout Day allows the program to showcase their draft eligible players for major league scouts. It also provides an opportunity for scouts to speak with the San Francisco coaching staff, helping to assemble their follow list for the June amateur draft.

NCAA baseball student-athletes are eligible for the draft following their third year in college, or following their 21st birthday.
