Keating's Three Point Attack Isn't Enough As Dons Fall At UC Davis
12/27/2011 2:38:00 PM | Women's Basketball
(Davis, Calif.) - Katy Keating hit six 3-points baskets Tuesday, but her efforts fell short as the San Francisco Women's Basketball team dropped a 64-50 decision to UC Davis at the Pavilion in Davis. Keating scored a game-high 18 points for the Dons (1-4), who played the first game of a five-game road swing.
UC Davis (5-0) defense held San Francisco to just two points over the opening 11 minutes, forcing five USF turnovers during the span. A jumper by Taj Winston at 11:04 sparked the Dons, though, opening a 10-0 to put the Green and Gold up 12-11 at 8:44.
The two teams traded the lead over the next three minutes, but the Aggies prevailed, going on an 8-2 run to close out the half. UC Davis headed into the locker room at halftime with a 26-19 lead.
Keating and Winston led the Dons in the half with six points each, followed by five from Mel Khlok.
Keating tallied 18 total points for San Francisco, matching a season high, but falling two short of a career high. Her six baskets from deep were nearing history, but she was unable to get up one more to tie the single game USF record of seven.
The Dons will return action following Thanksgiving as they travel to Seattle to compete in the Seattle University Thanksgiving Tournament. USF will face host, Seattle, on the opening night of the event. Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m. The Dons will face either Loyola-Chicago or Akron Saturday.
