USF CLOSES 2011 CALENDAR WITH LMU: San Francisco returns home to host Loyola Marymount in a 5:00 PM tip-off from War Memorial Gym on New Year's Eve. The Jesuit Spotlight contest will be the West Coast Conference opener for LMU. The Dons vs. the Lions will be the first game broadcast live on 95.7 The GAME.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE DONS: San Francisco dropped its second straight game with a 77-61 loss at Pepperdine in the 2011-12 West Coast Conference opener for both teams. Senior forward Angelo Caloiaro scored 14 to lead USF.
MOVING ON UP: Senior forward Angelo Caloiaro enters Saturday's West Coast Conference home opener against Loyola Marymount ranked No. 33 on the USF career scoring list with 979 points (9.1 ppg). Next up is former NFL safety Ken McAlister (1978-82) at No. 31 with 988.

DONS ADD MORGAN STATE TO THE 2011-12 SCHEDULE: San Francisco has added a quality non-conference game to the schedule. The Dons will host Morgan State Tuesday, January 3 in a 7:00 PM tip-off from War Memorial Gym. The Bears, under the direction of former Cal head coach Todd Bozeman, posted a 17-14 record last season and a 10-6 slate in the MEAC.

SCOUTING LMU: The Lions enter their West Coast Conference opener with a 7-6 non-conference slate and have won two of their last four contests. Loyola Marymount posted a 100-74 blowout win against Vanguard in its final non-conference tune-up on Tuesday at Gersten Pavilion, snapping a two-game losing skid. LMU opened the season with a 69-58 triumph at then-No. 17 UCLA (11/11/11). Senior forward Drew Viney leads the way for the Lions offensively, averaging 16.3 points and 4.7 rebounds, while sophomore guard Anthony Ireland adds 13.9 points and a team-high 5.3 assists. LMU leads the WCC in free throw percentage at .726 and in 3-point field goal percentage defense, allowing opponents to shoot at a chilly .312 from long distance. Max Good is in his fourth season in Westchester and owns a career record of 281-291 and is 38-68 as the top Lion after taking over before the start of the 2008-09 season.
