Dons Guard Leads Team in Scoring In League Games
(San Francisco) – Junior guard Rashad Green scored a game-high 18 points and led USF to a 68-62 win against ancient Bay Area rival Santa Clara and captured West Coast Conference Player of the Week honors. The Dons improved to 6-2 – their best league start since 1981 – and completed the season series sweep against the archrival Broncos.
Green scored a team-high 18 points on 7-of-12 from the field with six rebounds in 33 minutes. In addition, Green played a key defensive role in limiting Kevin Foster to a 0-for-10 night from 3-point range.
During league games, Green averages a team-high 15.3 points on .500 (38-76) from the floor to go along with 6.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.5 steals per game.
It is the first WCC Player of the Week for Green and the second for the Dons in 2010-11. Junior forward Angelo Caloiaro captured league honors after leading San Francisco to a monster 97-76 triumph against Seattle U. in the season opener.
USF continues its three-game homestand Thursday, February 10 when it hosts San Diego in a game televised live by Comcast SportsNet and aired live on KDIA (1640 AM). Tip-off against the Toreros is set for 7:30 PM at War Memorial Gym.
