Senior Tinna Johannsdottir Third; Sophomore Katrina Hegge Ninth Entering Final Round

(Hollister, CA) – USF women's golf opened play in the 2011 West Coast Conference Championship Monday at the San Juan Oaks Golf Club and after 36 holes sit in third place, two shots behind second place Gonzaga. The Dons look to finish strong in Tuesday's final round.
Senior Tinna Johannsdottir leads the Dons in third place overall at 5-over 149 (75, 74). The Icelander carded three birdies and posted 26 holes at par or better. Pepperdine's Grace Na leads the event at 2-under 142 (74, 68), while fellow Wave Danielle Kang is second at 1-under 143 (73, 70).
Nine-time defending champion Pepperdine holds a dominating lead on the field at 587 (296, 291), a whopping 26 in front of runner-up Gonzaga at 613 (307, 306). The Dons sit at 617 (308, 309), two shots in front of ancient Bay Area rival Santa Clara in fourth place at 619 (312, 307).
Sophomore Katrina Hegge is in ninth place at 153 (79, 74), while senior Diana Hong is in a share of 12th place at 155 (75, 80). Hegge carded a team-high six birdies Monday.
San Francisco returns to final round action Tuesday, starting at 8:48 AM off No. 10.
