FINAL STATS
(Scottsdale, AZ) – USF men's golf completed play in the 2011 Cowboy Classic, closing with a 7-over 287 in the final round and finished 10th overall in the event hosted by Wyoming at the Talking Stick North Course Tuesday. The Dons entered the final round in a share of eighth place, but could not make up any ground on the challenging 20-team field competing on the par-70 course playing at 7,133 yards.
Sophomore Taylor Travis was the top finisher for San Francisco in a share of 15th place at 1-over 211 (71, 68, 72). Junior Ji Hwan Park posted a share of 36th place at 6-over 216 (72, 72, 72).
USF shot a 54-hole total of 862 (288, 287, 287) and posted wins against a pair of West Coast Conference opponents, including Santa Clara (888) and Gonzaga (889).
Baylor captured the team title at 4-under 836 (282, 273, 281), three shots in front of Arizona at 1-under 839 (281, 282, 276). Colorado State placed third at 1-over 841 (284, 277, 280), good for a two shot win against fourth place UC Davis at 3-over 843 (286, 285, 272). Colorado (290, 278, 286) and Nevada (288, 277, 289) shared fifth place at 854.
Arizona's Tarquin Macmanus captured medalist honors at 8-under 202 (66, 70, 66).
USF returns to action at the 2011 Braveheart Classic, beginning Monday, April 11 at the Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont, CA. The 54-hole event is hosted by UC Riverside.
