(San Francisco, CA) – USF men's golf will play in its second NCAA Regional in three seasons when it competes in the 2011 NCAA West Regional at The Farms Golf Club May 19-21 in an event hosted by the University of San Diego. The West Coast Conference Champion Dons earned the No. 12 seed in the event.

San Francisco boasted one of the youngest rosters in Division I golf. Its 2011 WCC title team only had one member – junior Ji Hwan Park – who was in the lineup for the Dons 2009 league championship. The Dons lineup consisted of two juniors, a sophomore transfer playing in his first season of collegiate golf and two freshmen.

"I am very proud of this team," USF head coach Rich Yokota said. "They are so young, worked so hard and at times they really didn't see the fruits of their labor and with five new guys it was hard to tell if we were making progress. They validated themselves at the conference championships and they really want to prove that they belong right now."

Yokota welcomes the opportunity to remain on the West Coast and compete against some familiar teams.

"More than anything staying in region means a great opportunity for us to play in front of friends and family," Yokota said. "It's going to feel like a little bit of a home crowd for us. We're looking forward to getting started."
