Dons Welcome Louisiana, North Dakota State and Northern Arizona to the Second Annual Event November 11-13

(San Francisco, CA) – USF men's basketball will welcome a quality field for the second annual Hilltop Challenge beginning Friday, November 11 at War Memorial Gym. The Dons welcome Louisiana, North Dakota State and Northern Arizona to San Francisco for the 2011-12 season-opening event.
San Francisco hosts North Dakota State at 6:00 PM in the first ever meeting between the two schools Friday night, followed by the Lumberjacks against the Ragin' Cajuns at 8:30 PM. Saturday, the Dons host NAU at 6:00 PM, followed by Louisiana against NDSU at 8:30 PM.
"The Hilltop Challenge will be a truly challenging way to start our season off," USF head coach Rex Walters said. "Playing three Division I Teams on back-to-back-to-back nights will test our team early and give us a great indication of where we are at and what we need to do to get better. I want to thank our Athletic Department and Charlie Cross for all of their hard work to make this event possible for the second straight year. Tournament play wraps up with two Sunday matinees starting with the Bison and Lumberjacks squaring off at 1:00 PM. The Dons host Louisiana in the final game at 3:30 PM.

ABOUT THE HILLTOP CHALLENGE: The Hilltop Challenge enters its second year in 2011 after a successful debut in 2010. Last season San Francisco welcomed Colorado State, Dominican and Hampton to the Hilltop in the program's first on-campus tournament since 1999-00. The Dons dropped a 69-61 decision to the Rams in the opener, but rebounded for satisfying wins against the Pirates (69-57) and Penguins (68-47).
