James Back Shoots Two-Under 70

(Waikoloa, HI) – San Francisco men's golf struggled in the second round of the 22nd Annual Amer Ari at Waikoloa and 296, dropping into a share of 12th place after two rounds of the three-day event at the King's Course at Waikoloa Beach Resort. The Dons look to make a move up the leader board in Friday's final round in an elite field competing on the par-72 course playing at 7,074 yards.
San Francisco (285, 296) enters the final round tied with Bay Area rival San Jose State (293, 288) at 581. The Dons and Spartans own a three-shot lead over No. 2 Oregon at 584 (284, 300). No. 1 Texas leads the event at 19-under 557 (270, 287), three shots in front of No. 4 UCLA at 560 (275, 285). No fewer than eight teams in the top-14 nationally are in the talent-laden field.
Sophomore James Back was the lone Don to turn in a round in the red, finishing at 2-under 70. Back collected an eagle on the par-4 No. 17 hole and carded six holes at below par.
