(Davis, CA) – San Francisco Track and Field enjoyed a strong day at the 2012 Aggie Open, hosted by UC Davis Saturday. Three Dons posted wins in the event and two more recorded runner-up showings.

Junior Chloe Treleven won the women's 1500 with a time of 4:32.94, followed immediately by sophomore Maor Tiyouri in 4:35.65. Both set big personal records in the event. It was the second consecutive week Treleven has posted a win for the Dons, after claiming the 3000 title at the Cal Opener last Saturday.

Freshman Hillary Harris won her first collegiate event in the 800 in 2:14.57. Senior Will Marquardt won the 2000 steeplechase in 5:54.41.

WOMEN'S RECAP
Treleven ran away from the field in the final 600 meters and shattered her previous top time in the 3000 of 4:45.22, while Tiyouri's prior personal best was 4:39.19. Sophomore Sarah Pearson (18:06.29) and senior Hillary Kigar (18:11.55) finished fourth and fifth respectively in the 5000. Freshman Laticia Lonon, the school record holder in the discus, finished ninth at 38.02 meters.

“Chloe continues to race very well with strong finishes,” USF head coach Helen Lehman-Winters said. “She ran a patient race and finished very strong over the last 800 meters. Hillary Harris won the 800 and led wire to wire to win easily.”

MEN'S RECAP
In addition to Marquardt's exploits in the steeplechase, the Dons enjoyed a solid showing in the 1500 as five finished in the top-15. Top finisher for San Francisco was sophomore Jose Madera with a new personal record time of 3:51.09, eclipsing his previous best of 3:51.70. Sophomore Gustavo Mena finished fifth at 3:54.58, while senior Ganbileg Bor was 10th at 3:57.67. Sophomore Charlie Johansen posted a personal best with a mark of 4:04.53, easily besting his previous time of 4:09.57.

Freshman Sean Gomes (1:55.75) and Mena (1:56.25) finished fourth and fifth respectively in the 800. Junior Jason Waldram finished fifth in the 2000 steeplechase at 6:10.17, while sophomore Adam Smith was seventh at 6:15.71. Freshman Nile Norwood established a new collegiate best in the triple jump, finishing seventh at 13.58 meters.

“Overall, we had some solid performances today and will now use our spring break to rest up and get some quality training in later in the week,” Lehman-Winters said.
