Dons Take on Elite Field Starting Friday at Stanford Golf Course

(San Francisco) – USF men's golf will compete in one of its final tune-ups before defending its West Coast Conference Championship when it plays in the prestigious U.S. Intercollegiate hosted by Stanford March 30 – April 1 at the Stanford Golf Course. The Dons will take on an elite field featuring six teams ranked in the top-15 nationally on the par-70 course playing at 6,727 yards.
TOURNAMENT FIELD: (All rankings Golfweek/Sagarin) Colorado, Fresno State, Nevada, No. 12 Oregon, Oregon State, Pepperdine, No. 13 San Diego State, San Francisco, San Jose State, No. 11 Stanford, UC Davis, No. 4 UCLA, No. 5 USC, Utah, No. 7 Washington and Washington State.
ABOUT THE DONS: San Francisco enters the U.S. Intercollegiate ranked No. 48 in the current Golfweek/Sagarin poll and is No. 66 in the Golfstat ratings. Three Dons are among the top-160 on the individual rankings including junior Taylor Travis (107), senior Ji Hwan Park (144) and sophomore James Back (157). USF owns five top-five showings in 2011-12 including a team championship at the 2012 Triumph at Pauma Valley.
ABOUT THE COURSE: Stanford Golf Course (6,727 yards; par 70)
TOURNAMENT FORMAT: The U.S. Intercollegiate is a 54-hole tournament. The field will play 18 holes per day, starting Friday, March 30. Teams will tee off on holes No. 1 and 10 on all three days beginning at 8:00 AM.
