(San Francisco) – USF men's golf made more history last week when it was selected for the 2012 NCAA West Regional Field. The action starts Thursday, May 17 at the Stanford Golf Course. It marks the first time in program history the Dons have captured NCAA postseason berths in consecutive seasons and is just the team's fourth overall appearance.
San Francisco enters the field as the No. 11 seed and earned an NCAA at-large berth this season after capturing the automatic bid via victories in the West Coast Conference Championships in both 2009 and 2011.
The field will tee off at 8 a.m. from holes No. 1 and 10 on Thursday and Friday and at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday. Admission is free.
The low five teams from this 13-team Stanford Regional will advance to the NCAA Championships, to be held at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., May 29-June 3.

NCAA REGIONAL FORMAT: Each team will play 18 holes per day. Following 54 holes of competition, the top five teams and top individual not from one of those five teams will advance to Nationals May 29-June 3 at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades.

DONS IN THE NCAA REGIONALS: San Francisco still seeks its first-ever trip to NCAA Nationals. The Dons posted an eighth-place showing as the host of the 2009 West Regional at Lake Merced and finished eighth last season at The Farms Golf Course.
DONS AT STANFORD GOLF COURSE: San Francisco competed in the 2012 U.S. Intercollegiate hosted by Stanford at the Stanford Golf Course. The Dons posted a 13th place showing in the event and freshman Jobim Carlos was the top finisher for the Green and Gold in a share of 32nd place.
