SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Former San Francisco Dons track and field member Haley Nemra will represent the Marshall Islands in the women's 800m in the London Olympic Games on Wednesday, August 8.

A four-year member on the USF track and field team, Nemra was the honorary flag bearer for the Marshall Islands in the opening ceremony last Friday.

After competing in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games on the first-ever contingent fielded by the Marshall Islands, the Marysville, Washington, native will race in her second Olympics in the first round of the 800m at 11:35 a.m. PST on August 8.

Nemra is one of four Olympians representing the small, 68,000-person island nation, which helps comprise the large island chain of Micronesia, located in the Northern Pacific Ocean. Nemra's father, Korap, is from the Marshall Islands, and Haley owns dual citizenship, which qualifies her for the Olympics.

The women's 800m semifinals will be held on August 9 at 7:30 p.m. PST, while the finals will be held on August 11 at 8:00 p.m. PST.
