Parker takes weekly honor after his 23-point performance Saturday at BYU
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- Junior guard De'End Parker was named the West Coast Conference's Player of the Week on Monday for his performance on Saturday against BYU that helped lift USF to a 99-87 victory over the Cougars in Provo.
Parker scored a game-high 23 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the floor, including 3-of-3 from three-point range, to help the Dons rally from a 15-point second half deficit and upset the Cougars on their home floor. He also added four assists and three rebounds.
The Dons made 14-of-23 three-pointers in the contest, including 9-of-10 of their long distant attempts in the second half, and shot a season-high 57.1 percent from the field for the game. USF ranks ninth nationally in three-point field goal percentage for the season at 40.6 percent.
Parker is the second USF player to earn WCC Player of the Week honors this season, following Cole Dickerson's selection on Dec. 3 following his 19-point, 20-rebound performance against Montana.
USF will return to action on Thursday when the Dons play host to the Portland Pilots beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Memorial Gymnasium. The fifth-ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs make their annual visit to The Hilltop on Saturday afternoon for a 1:30 contest inside Memorial Gym.
