SAN FRANCISCO – The University of San Francisco women's tennis team rebounded from last week's loss to Fresno State to defeat the UC Davis Aggies, 4-3, Sunday afternoon at Golden Gate Park.

With the win, the Dons improved to 4-2 on the season while the Aggies fell to 3-6.

The Dons lost the doubles point for the second straight match after picking up the doubles point in the first four matches of the season.

USF would answer quickly, however, as Andrea Ka, Marina Nikolic, Yurie Hashiguchi and Sofia Holmberg would go on to win their singles matches to seal the victory for the Dons.

“I thought the girls fought extremely hard during the singles, especially after losing the doubles point,” said USF coach Hilary Somers. “We knew it was going to be a really competitive match today and we hadn't beaten them in the past three years so that was a really good win for us. I felt like the girls fought extremely hard in their matches and kept that positive energy throughout the day.”

USF returns to the court on Saturday, Feb. 23 at noon when it hosts the Cal Poly Mustangs (2-4) at Golden Gate Park.
