RENO, Nev. – The University of San Francisco men's tennis team overcame severe weather conditions to hand the Nevada Wolfpack a 6-1 loss in its first home match of the season.
Nevada, combined with 40-degree weather and a couple of snow flurries, weren't enough to slow the Dons from jumping out to a 3-0 lead behind
Germain Bahri and
William Schumacher singles wins.
With the victory, USF improved to 5-2 on the spring and Nevada fell to 6-4 on the season and 0-1 at home.
This was one the tougher matches we played as far as conditions,” said USF coach
Peter Bartlett. “The team did a really good job staying focused and closing out the match.
William Schumacher had a great showing closing out his match and giving the team good momentum.”
USF returns to the court after a two-week layoff to host the No. 39 Boise State Broncos on Saturday, March 9 at 1 p.m. at the Cal Club.
