SAN FRANCISCO – The University of San Francisco women's tennis team closed out its 11-match home stand on a high note, besting the Colorado Buffaloes by a score of 4-2 Monday afternoon at Golden Gate Park.
With the victory, the Dons (10-5, 1-2 WCC) became the first West Coast Conference squad to reach double digit wins and upped their winning streak to four matches.
“This was a good win for us going into two conference matches this week,” said USF coach
Hilary Somers. “We were able to close out this home match stretch with four wins in a row, which is important heading into a two-match road trip.”
Four of USF's remaining five conference matches will take place on the road, with trips to Southern California (Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount) and the Pacific Northwest (Portland and Gonzaga) on the horizon.
The Dons' 1-2 conference record is good for a tie for fourth place in the WCC, with Saint Mary's (3-0) leading the way, closely followed by Santa Clara and San Diego (2-0).
