BERKELEY, Calif. – The San Francisco women's track and field team posted a half dozen top-five finishes in competition during the weekend at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational.
Maor Tiyouri and Katherine Jamboretz earned third and fifth in the 1,500 meters, respectively. Tiyouri, a junior from Kfar Saba, Israel, rounded the track in a collegiate best mark of 4:31.91 and Jamoretz came in at 4:36.33.
Kailey Ulland, sophomore from Kent, Wash., shaved nearly 15 seconds off her previous collegiate best in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Ulland completed the course in 11:07.33 to finish second, and notched her second-consecutive top five finish.
Elena Burkard posted a second-place finish for the Dons in the 5,000 meters, turning in a collegiate best mark of 17:03.94. Dueling for first but being edged by Madeline Kramer, Burkard outran her nearest competitor, Theresa Selestow from Wisconsin, by nearly 14 seconds.
Other solid performances came at the 800-meter distance. In the open division, Leah Lundblad finished with a collegiate best time of 2:15.29 on Friday. Saturday, teammate
Hillary Harris took her turn at the distance in the Louise Romo Invite section, posting her own personal best and fourth-place finish, with a time of 2:09.56.
“We had a solid time at the track,” head coach
Helen Lehman-Winters said. “We had multiple personal and seasonal bests and this is what we like to see this time of the season.”
USF finishes out the month of April on Sunday at the Payton Jordan Invitational in Stanford, Calif.
