OSTRAVA, Czech Republic - USF senior Eva Krchova continues her blistering summer in Europe, with a new personal best of 9:52.69 at the 52nd Ostrava Golden Spike, an IAAF World Challenge event. Krchova was four seconds off the finish of 2008 Beijing Olympic gold medalist and current world record holder Gulnara Galkina, who finished seventh. Her 3000 meter steeplechase performance was good for eighth in the event finals, and bests her previous high mark of 9:54, set July 20, 2011.

Krchova, a native of Brno, Czech Republic, has a history of posting exceptional times in her homeland, after turning in an eighth place finish at the 2011 European Championships, also held in Ostrava. This meet prepares her for the World University Games, which will be held in Kazan, Russia, July 6-12. Krchova's event is slated to begin Monday, July 8, with the finals occurring July 10.
