On Friday, USF's women's cross country team continues its pursuit of qualifying for nationals at the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational in Madison, Wisc.
With junior Elena Burkard likely to miss the race, the Dons will turn to upperclassmen Jana Soethout and Kate Jamboretz in order to help the team overcome a disappointing 15th place finish two weeks ago at the Notre Dame Invitational.
Soethout finished 36th, while Jamboretz placed 100th.
Both runners have demonstrated their ability to lead the Dons on the course.
Last season, Jamboretz earned USTFCCCA All-West Region and Honorable Mention All-West Coast Conference honors. In addition, she led the Dons to 18th place in the 2013 NCAA Cross County National Championships, the school's highest finish at nationals.
Earlier this season at the WCC Preview, Soethout finish sixth and Jamboretz finished 11th, to help the Dons place second.
USF will also receive help from freshman Haley Dorris, who, in her short collegiate career, has already proved to be a reliable runner.
In her first race this season, the USF Invitational, Dorris finished 11th and followed that performance by placing 13th at the WCC Preview. At the Notre Dame Invitational, Dorris placed 99th.
Also expected to round out the field for the Dons are Sophomore Ashley Moffett, Catherine Clohesy and Kelsey Nielsen.
