Haley Dorris has run fewer than a half dozen races for the Dons, but already she's emerged as someone who will be an integral part of USF's pursuit for a sixth-consecutive West Coast Conference title next week in Sunnyvale.
Dorris, a freshman, began her collegiate career in August by finishing eighth at the USF Invitational. She followed that performance by placing 13th at the WCC Preview, and most recently, she was the Dons second-highest finisher at the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational.
Dorris comes to the Hilltop from Great Oak High School, in Temecula, where she was a member of the school's two-time California Interscholastic Federation Division 1 State Championship cross country team.
In 2013, when the Wolfpack set a D1 course record, Dorris finished seventh to earn first-team All-CIF and All-County honors.
On the track, Dorris was a state finalist in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters where she finished fourth and ninth in 2014.
In an installment of Know Your Dons, Dorris discusses her personal interests and what she has enjoyed, so far, at USF.
