
Dons Dominate First Win of the Season

San Francisco, Calif.- The Dons start the spring slate off right with a 7-0 win against Sonoma State at the Olympic Club.
"It was a great way to start the season with all matches being played to completion in dominant form," said head coach Pablo Pires de Almeida.
USF dominated in doubles play with Bernardo Saraiva and Nils Skajaa defeating Phil Holbrook and Vincent Paganetti, 6-3. Thomas Takemoto and Vasco Valverde also earned their win against Blaine Meugert and Logan Lidfell, 6-2. James Tallman and Christian Brockstedt served up a win against Matt Weeber and Sullivan Ruche to take the match, 6-3.
Saraiva sets the impetus for his last season in a positive direction as he defeated Phil Holbrook in two quick sets, 6-2, 6-3. Skajaa earned his match against Noah Lee, 6-4, 6-0. Playing for the first time this school year for the Green and Gold, Tallman won his match against Blain Mengert 6-2, 6-1. Takemoto, Valverde, and Brockstedt won their singles matches as well on Sunday afternoon.
The next match for the Dons will be against Arizona on January 30.
