University of San Francisco men's head basketball coach
Rex Walters has announced Jimbo Lull, a 7-0 center from Manhattan Beach, Calif. who attends New Hampton (N.H.) School; and Jordan Ratinho, a 6-5 guard from De La Salle High School in Concord, Calif. have signed national letters of intent to attend USF next fall.
Â
Lull attended Rolling Hills Preparatory School in San Pedro, Calif. for three years before transferring to New Hampton School in New Hampshire for his senior season and one post-graduate year. He averaged 15.4 points, 12.3 rebounds and 3.0 blocks a game in 2013-14 at Rolling Hills and as a sophomore in 2012-13, he averaged 18.8 points and 12.8 rebounds to help the Huskies to the Southern Section 5A championship game. In 67 career games at Rolling Hills, Lull averaged 16.1 points, 12.1 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game.
Â
"In the recruiting process, we look to recruit and sign those three dimensional young men – someone who is a good person, a good student and a good basketball player," said Walters. "That is who Jimbo Lull is. As a post player, he brings size and skill to our program. This young man has been raised right by his parents Richard and Maureen Lull and has been pushed to be the best basketball player he can be at New Hampton under Peter Hutchins and Nick Whitmore. We are excited to have Jimbo join our program and helping him achieve all of his goals."
Â
Ratinho, a four-year starter for perennial East Bay Athletic League power De La Salle, averaged 17.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and shot 50 percent from the field last season for the Spartans. As a junior, he was named the EBAL's Co-Player of the Year and was also a third-team All-Metro selection by the San Francisco Chronicle. Ratinho has scored 1,046 career points and has helped his team to a cumulative 82-14 record, two EBAL titles and a pair of quarterfinal appearances in the state championships during his varsity career. He played three seasons under
Frank Allocco, now USF's associate head coach.
Â
"Jordan Ratinho is as good a young man, basketball player and student that I've recruited," said Walters. "Jordan absolutely plays the game the right way. He makes his teammates better, plays the game hard and can really shoot and score the ball. The future is so bright for this young man and our program got better today with his signing. Carlos, Suzann and De La Salle High School have turned out a special person and I can't tell you how happy we are to say he has decided to continue his education and basketball career right here at home at the University of San Francisco."

USF opens the 2015-16 season on Friday night with a road game against Illinois-Chicago. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. PT and the game can be seen on ESPN3. The Dons tip-off their home schedule Monday night against Rice at 7:00 p.m. in Memorial Gymnasium.
