STANFORD, Calif. -- USF's men's golf team turned in its best round over the final 18 holes of The Goodwin and tied for 18th place in the 24-team field.

The Dons shot a 9-over score of 289 on Saturday and finished the 54-hole event with a team score of 871 (+31). UAB and SMU shared the team championship with a 23-under score of 817. The Mustangs, paced by Austin Smotherman's final round 62, shot a 10-under score of 270 to earn a share of the team title with the Blazers. Stanford finished third at 823 (-17), TCU was fourth at 824 (-16) while UNLV and Oregon tied for fifth at 826 (-14).

Stanford's Maverick McNealy and UAB's Will Cannon shared medalist honors at 197 (-13). McNealy shot a final round 66 on his home course to make up three strokes on Cannon, who had a share of the 36 hole lead at 12-under after rounds of 66 and 62. John Oda of UNLV, who also had a share of th 36-hole lead with Cannon after back-to-back rounds of 64, slipped into a tie for fourth place at -11 after a final round 71.

Junior Sebastian Crookall-Nixon was USF's top finisher at even par 210, good for a tie for 24th place. The Englishman, who was tied for third place after an opening the tournament with a 65, shot a final round 73 with birdies on his final two holes.

Jalen Griffin moved 12 spots up the leaderboard and tied for 70th place after carding a final round 70 on Saturday. The freshman's card consisted of two birdies and two bogeys over his final 18 holes.

Mathias Wentjarvi tied for 112th at 227 (+17) after finishing with a 73. The Swede was even par on his round through 12 holes before making back-to-back double bogeys on holes No. 4 and 5, his 14th and 15th of the day. However, the redshirt freshman settled down to birdie two of his last three holes for his final round 73.

Senior Emil Liljeroth tied for 121st at 231 (+21) after shooting a 82 on his final round.

Max Alcorn, who was disqualified in Thursday's first round, shot his second consecutive 73 on Saturday.

The Dons will return to action on April 6-7 when they join the field at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic at Talking Stick Golf Course in Scottsdale. It will be the team's final event before the WCC Championships, which are set for April 13-15 at Saticoy Golf Club in Somis.
