SPOKANE, Wash. – The Dons clinched a 4-3 victory against Gonzaga this afternoon at The Stevens Center.
 
USF is now overall 12-8 with an impressive 7-2 WCC record as they finish off their regular season of conference play.  With just one more match in their regular season against Washington State, the Dons will finish with an overall winning record entering into the WCC tournament.
 
USF took the lead in doubles action as Thyra Taune and Genevieve McCloskey claimed a 6-2 win against Alex Bourguignon and Melanie Yates. The pair is now 6-3 in conference play. Andrea Ka and Marina Nikolic confirmed the point as they took down Katie Edwards and Samantha Polayes 6-3. They are also 6-3 in WCC action for the regular season.
 
Andrea Ka kept the momentum going as she dominated her match against Gonzaga's top player Katie Edwards in two sets, 6-2, 6-1.  
 
Although the Bulldogs responded at No. 5 singles with a close match from McCloskey who fell 7-5, 6-4 against Melanie Yates, Taune picked up USF's third point.  Taune defeated Samantha Polayes at No. 2 singles in straight sets 6-1, 4-6, 7-5.
 
Sofia Holmberg clinched the win for the Green and Gold, as she was victorious against Franziska Koehler. Holmberg picked up the first set 6-3, came short in the second set 4-6, but came back to earn a 6-4 third set win for USF.
 
The Dons will head to Pullman, Wash. tomorrow as they face Washington State at 11 a.m.
