USF's men's golf coach
Rich Yokota has announced his resignation after six seasons of guiding the Dons.
Â
Yokota coached the Dons to one WCC Championship (2011) and three NCAA Regional appearances (2011, '12 and '13) during his six-year tenure. This past season, USF finished fourth at the WCC Championships. He spent three seasons as the Dons assistant coach before taking over the program in the fall of 2009.
Â
"With much sincere and difficult reflection, I have chosen to leave USF after this season to pursue other opportunities and to spend more time with my family," said Yokota. "The past nine years have been incredibly rewarding and I have been blessed with the opportunity to serve and mentor our outstanding players. As a graduate of USF, I also am honored to have been a part of a great USF community whose overall mission is dear to my heart. Finally, I would like to thank all of our staff and especially our student-athletes who have given me so many positive memories."
Â
"I'd like to thank Rich for his nine years of service to the University of San Francisco and our men's golf program and wish him nothing but the best in all of his future endeavors," said
Scott Sidwell, USF's director of athletics.
