FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- USF settled for the fourth place finish at the Ptarmigam Ram Fall Classic, which wrapped up today in Fort Collins, Colo.
The Dons finished with a team score of 891 (+27) after a closing round 305 (+17) on the par-72 Ptarmigan Golf Clb layout, 15 strokes behind first-place BYU, which posted a 12-over 876 to claim the team title. The Cougars shot a final round 296 to hold off second-place San Jose State, which finished four strokes back at 880.
Sarah Brown of Texas Tech claimed medalist honors with a winning score of 212 (-4), good for a four stroke victory over two other golfers.
"I'm proud of the way we battled today in gusty conditions," said USF head coach Sarah Glynn. "It was especailly challenging on the back nine. All in all, I thought it was a solid first showing. We saw some really good golf and were impressed with the progree that our returning players made over the summer. Our birdie count on Monday was unbelievable. That was a strong indication of what we are capable of."
