Tuscon, AZ –– On the second day of the Wildcat Invitational on the University of Arizona campus, the USF Dons were eliminated from championship play, with freshman
Ryan Marker losing to Liam Goldberg of New Mexico State in the Red Draw flight.
Marker, playing in the semifinals of the Red Draw, lost the first set to Goldberg 6-4. In the second set, Marker battled but lost 7-6 in a tiebreaker and was knocked out of the tournament.
USF also participited in consolation play, with all four Dons competing on Saturday. Marker teamed up with
Christian Brockstedt in doubles but lost 8-5 to Matt Dunn and Trevor James of Arizona.
Alex Santiago and
Jason Lee also played doubles together, but lost 8-2 to a pair from New Mexico State.
Brockstedt, playing in the Blue Draw consolation round, defeated Tom Fisher of Northern Arizona 6-4, 6-3 to advance to play on Sunday. Santiago faced off against Christopher Gonclaves in the consolation Red Draw, but lost 6-3, 6-3. In the White Draw consolation round, Lee lost to Max Whightman of Mesa Junior College 6-3, 6-4.
