USF - University of San Francisco or You Stay Forever? What is it about our school that creates such great passion and devotion from its sons and daughters?

The University of San Francisco Tuesday Testimonials tell that story in the words of the special men and women who make the Hilltop such an amazing place.

Bob Enright '81, or Encat to the men's basketball Baseline Boyz, is a proud third generation San Franciscan and alumnus of the Dons.

Enright reflected on not only his time on the Hilltop as an undergraduate student continuing his Jesuit education built on the foundations learned at St. Ignatius, but also how that education poured an invaluable foundation for him, personally and professionally.

"I am thrilled and bubbling with enthusiasm to have such a great relationship with the University and the athletic department, in particular. We've been through a lot since I graduated the program … We're on a good track now and I think [athletics is] just a wonderful way to connect with fellow alums, and students, and faculty, and it's just a wonderful buzz in the air when you come to our games."

That enthusiastic relationship with USF has influenced Enright's generosity to the University. He knows what a challenging schedule being a collegiate can be, and respects the grueling nature of the life of a student-athlete.

"I have a warm spot in my heart for the student-athlete. I feel if somebody can graduate from this university as a student, they are well prepared for life. I feel if somebody has graduated as a student-athlete that they are extremely prepared. The demands are unbelievably challenging from a time management perspective. I think they learn more about managing their schedules and how do they get their homework done before and after practice when they are dog tired and that prepares them for life.

"I think that if I can find a way to help support the student-athlete – they need help with better facilities, they need quality coaching, they need mentors, they need tutors, they need the support – to survive the four years as a student-athlete. I feel that my contributions will help do that, and I'll have an impact, and I'll be proud. Maybe someday a student-athlete will come up and let me know how great their experience was and that'll make the whole round trip worthwhile for me."
