
USF Finishes Solid Weekend of Competition

SAN FRANCISCO –– Led by the 2016 debuts of newcomers Weronika Pyzik and Charlotte Taylor, the USF women's track and field team finished off a strong weekend of competition at both the Stanford Invitational and the San Francisco State Distance Carnival.
On Friday at Stanford, Pyzik and senior Kate Jamboretz both competed in section four of the 5,000M, with Pyzik placing 5th overall with a time of 16:25.30. The mark puts the freshman at second place on USF's All-Time list. Jamboretz finished in 16:34.12 for 12th place.
Later in the day, Burkard competed in section two of the 5000M, completing the race in 16:18.58. The evening at Stanford concluded with Taylor taking the starting line for section two of the the 10,000M. The British transfer impressed with a time of 33:25.09 to place fifth out of 37 participants. The mark puts her in second place on the school's All-Time list.
Saturday's events at San Francisco State were highlighted by Eleni Fkiaras' personal-best in the 400M hurdles. The senior finished in 1:03.94 to break her previous mark and re-set the school record.
USF will return next weekend to participate in the Sun Angel Classic from April 8-9 in Tempe, Ariz.
