SAN DIEGO -- USF's women's tennis team picked up its third consecutive victory this afternoon with a come-from-behind, 4-2 victory over San Diego at the Hogan Tennis Center.

After dropping the doubles point to fall, USF stormed back to win four of the five completed singles matches to improve to 5-10 overall and 3-3 in conference play. With the loss, San Diego falls to 6-8-1 overall and 3-4 in the WCC. The win is USF's first-ever victory on the Toreros home courts.

The Toreros turned in a dominant performance in claiming the doubles point, with the No. 2 and 3 teams of Marta Stojanovic-Maria-Paula Torres and Colomba DiFilipo-Shana Belcher posting easy 6-0 victories. The match on court No. 1 between Andrea Ka-Thyra Taune and San Diego's Drew Spinosa-Dana Oppinger was suspended with the USF duo leading 5-0.

USF turned the tables on San Diego in singles play, picking up four straight set victories to clinch the match.

Shanna Dos Santos got the Dons on the board, picking up a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Torres at the No. 4 position. Thyra Taune put the Dons up 2-1 with a dominating effort at the No. 2 position, downing Dana Oppinger, 6-1, 6-1.

Senior Sofia Holmberg gave the Dons a 3-1 lead in the match with her 6-0, 6-3 victory over Sophia Chow on court No. 5.

The Toreros picked up a victory at the No. 3 position, as Drew Spinosa downed Genevieve McCloskey, 6-3, 6--1 to cut the Dons lead to 3-2.

Ka provided the match clincher with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Stojanovic on court No 1 to improve to11-2 on the season. The senior has won her last five matches.

USF will return to action on April 16 when the Dons travel to the South Bay to meet the Santa Clara Broncos beginning at 12 noon.
