
USF Completes Spartan Invitational

SAN JOSE, Calif.-- After shooting 315 in the final round of the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational at the Almaden Golf and Country Club, USF women's golf finished with a total score of 928 to place in 11th place.
BYU claimed the wire-to-wire victory after shooting a grand total of 882 (+18). Hosts San Jose St. finished in second after shooting 885 (+21). Colorado (+29), Nevada (+40) and UC Irvine (+41) completed the top-5 of the leaderboard.
Kendra Dalton of BYU claimed the medalist honors after shooting 1-under 71 in today's final round. Dalton finished the tournament 4-under par, two strokes ahead of last year's medalist winner, My Leander.
Vanessa Ha finished as the low Dons player for the second straight tournament, as the junior finished in a tie for 18th place with a total of 226 (+10). Ha shot a 4-over 76 in the final round which was highlighted by birdies on holes 13 and 16.
Alison Lillie placed in the top-30 of the field after carding rounds of 75-76-81. Mabel Wong and Ayaka Suzuki both ended the tournament with a total of 235 (+19) to finish in a tie for 40th. Samantha Gong carded rounds of 79-82-86 to finish in solo 58th.
Junior Emily Laskin finished the tournament as the lowest scoring individual player. She scored the final round with a 7-over par 79, and ended the event with a total of 232 (+16) to finish tied-29th.
Up next for the Dons is the Ron Moore Intercollegiate (Oct. 7-9) which is held at the Highlands Ranch Golf Club in Denver, Colo.
