SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco women's tennis team dominated Cal Poly to earn the 6-1 victory over the Mustangs on Saturday afternoon at The Olympic Club.
The Dons enjoyed stout performances up and down the lineup, beginning with the day's doubles point. First, the duo of
Hanna Borjeson and
Margarita Treyes dispatched Susanne Boyden and Abigail Bacharach by a score of 6-4 from the No. 2 position. Then,
Anna Sokiran and
Amber Del Rosario teamed up to clinch the point with a 6-3 victory over Celine Gruaz and Claire Bouquet to start the match scoring in favor of the Dons.
In singles action, USF opened with the point at No. 6 after Cal Poly's Bouquet was unable to play due to injury. Mustang Susanne Boyden got the visitors on the board on court 2 before Treyes played to the straight-set win at No. 4.
Senior
Genevieve McCloskey played the role of clincher after taking down Seriana Saltzen 7-6(4), 6-2. The Dons tacked on wins from Borjeson and Sokiran to finish the day with the team victory. None of the day's singles matches needed a third set to be decided, and three Dons – Sokiran, Treyes and Borjeson – recorded a pair of wins on the day as USF notched its second win of the spring slate.
Next, USF plays host to Northern Arizona in a Sunday afternoon meeting at The Olympic Club. First serve is slated for 3 p.m.
