SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco women's tennis team fell to the undefeated Cal State Fullerton Titans 5-1 amidst a weather-shortened match on Friday afternoon at The Olympic Club.
Â
The squads had to skip the doubles point to fit the match in before inclement weather struck, moving straight into singles play.
USF fell behind 2-0 to the Titans before sophomore Hannah Borjeson netted the point for the Dons from the No. 5 position. Borjeson took down Masako Makiba, 6-3, 6-1, to notch the straight-set victory and record the lone USF point on the afternoon.
USF is still seeking its first win of the spring while the Titans advanced their record to 5-0 on the year.
"Hanna's match was the highlight as she really competed well and played her opponent really smart," noted USF head coach
Hilary Somers. "We are a work in progress and are learning as much as we can each match individually and as a team. We are looking forward to playing a little bit better tomorrow against San Jose state and implementing what we learned from our matches today."
The Dons hope for drier weather as the team heads to San Jose State to take on the Spartans on Saturday morning.
