SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco women's tennis team rallied for the hard-fought 4-3 victory over Pacific on a sunny Saturday afternoon at The Olympic Club.

The Dons dropped the doubles point, and fell even further behind after Pacific nabbed the straight-set win on Court 5. USF got on the board when Margarita Treyes downed Cristina Saenz Deburuaga Ruiz, 6-3, 6-1, in the No. 4 spot of the lineup, but the Tigers earned their third point of the day to put to match on the ropes at No. 6.

USF's Emily Maxfield's match was next to finish, as the freshman from Murrietta, Calif., rallied from a second-set defeat to take down Anneroos Nederstigt, 6-2, 0-6, 6-1. Then, senior Genevieve McCloskey knotted the match at 3-all after the come-from-behind victory over Maayan Sela at No. 1.

Coming up clutch on the afternoon was Hanna Borjeson, a sophomore from Gothenburg, Sweden. After falling behind to Anna Ramos Vinolas on Court 3, she fought back to take the second set 7-6(4), and finished off the day with the 7-6(3) decision in the third to seal the win.

"It was a great comeback for us today, and an inspiring match as a coach to see these girls fight so hard for the win," noted USF head coach Hilary Somers. "We really changed the momentum after losing the doubles and down first sets on five, six, one and three. In addition, Hanna was down two match points in the second set. Had she not out competed her opponent to win those two points in a row, match would have been over before Court 1 even finished."

After picking up their first WCC win of the spring, the Dons look to continue momentum with a tough Southern California road swing. USF faces off against Loyola Marymount on Friday in Los Angeles before meeting up with No. 16 Pepperdine on Saturday in Malibu.
