SAN FRANCISCO – Back to full strength up and down the lineup, the San Francisco women's tennis team earned a 4-3 win over Bay Area rival Santa Clara on Saturday afternoon at The Olympic Club.

The Dons opened the day with the doubles point for just the third time this spring. No. 3 pair Hanna Borjeson and Margarita Treyes took down Santa Clara's Zeina El Tawil and Giannina Ong, 6-1. After the Broncos tandem earned a win on Court 2, it was up to Genevieve McCloskey and Emily Maxfield. USF's top duo outlasted Madison Clarke and Daniella Silva 7-6 (7-4) to put the Dons on the board first.

USF grew the lead to two after Treyes finished off Ong, 6-2, 6-1 on Court 6. Santa Clara's competitors at Nos. 1 and 2 evened the match, and then El Tawil's 6-1, 7-5 victory at No. 4 gave the Broncos their first lead of the day. USF's Borjeson dispatched Caitlyn Frankel, 7-6(1), 6-1 on Court 5 to knot the match. On the final court in action, Maxfield got the best of Nabila Farah 6-2, 6-4 to clinch the win for the Dons.

"This is the first time the entire season we had our full lineup," noted USF head coach Hilary Somers. "We displayed a definite team effort today to pull out the win, and we're looking forward to finishing out the conference strong next weekend against San Diego and BYU."

USF continues its season-ending home stand next weekend, hosting San Diego on Friday at noon, and closing out the regular season against BYU on Senior Day Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Both matches will be contested on the courts of The Olympic Club.
