MTN | Dons Prepare for George Washington Matchup

STANFORD -- After a rained out matchup against Stanford University, the University of San Francisco men's tennis team will stay at the Taube Tennis Center to compete against George Washington on Saturday, Jan. 20. Match time is scheduled for 10 a.m. Since the Dons were not able to compete against the Cardinals, the match against the Colonials will be the first dual matchup for USF.

GAME INFORMATION
Date/Time: Friday, Jan. 19, 3 p.m.
Opponent: Stanford University
Site: Taube Tennis Center

COACHES CORNER
Head coach Pablo Pires de Almeida:

"George Washington has a great coaching staff. I know the guys really well and they are going to come at us. Last year, they made the NCAA Tournament and they are a quality team that wins their conference a lot so we know it's going to be a good battle. In that match, the doubles point is going to be big for us so hopefully we can get off on a good start with that and really take it to them in the singles. I think we will see the depth in that match play out and hopefully we can be a deeper team."

USF HISTORY
The first time the Dons faced George Washington was in the 2016 spring season when they handed the Colonials a 4-2 loss. The two team then took a two year hiatus going into the upcoming matchup. While the Dons have yet to play in a dual match, this will be the Colonials second game of the season.

UP NEXT
The Dons will head to Tucson to face the University of Arizona Wildcats on Friday, Ja. 26-27 at the Lanelle Robson Tennis Center. Game time is at 12 p.m. MST.
