SAN FRANCISCO — The University of San Francisco's men's tennis team member, Nitzan Ricklis earned the Northern California Mens Open Player of the Year award voted by the NorCal board of directors, after showing a tremendous amounts of confidence and success playing against high-leveled matches this fall season as a Freshman.
Ricklis was the highlight of both the ITA Regional and the Bulldog Invitational this fall season. Ricklis defeated Pac-12 member Stanford in straight sets and was the only Don to advance in 32s after taking down Eastern Washington at the ITA Invite. Ricklis was crowned champion of the North Draw Singles at the Bulldog Invitational, after sweeping UC Davis, Azusa Pacific and University of Nevada, Reno in straight sets.
"Nitzan is a hard worker and loves tennis. He has shown this all Fall and it's his positive attitude that pushes him daily in practice and matches to excel. He has a great impact on the team and this award is well deserved for his commitment to compete hard every match," said Head Coach Pablo Pires de Almeida.
After an exceptional fall season, the Dons are ready for Ricklis to carry on his talent and success to the Spring season.
