SAN FRANCISCO – The University of San Francisco women's soccer team had three juniors earn United Soccer Coaches All-West Region honors this week, with
Autumn Smithers earning second team honors and
Samantha Jehnings and
Miciah Madison earning third team honors.
This is the first all three all-region honor of all three players following a tremendous season that saw USF go 11-7-2, just the ninth time in program history the Dons have won 10 or more games.
Smithers, the Dons defensive midfielder and two-time All-WCC honoree, earned her first all-region honor following a season in which she once again led the Dons in minutes. Smithers tallied career-highs in shots (20), points (9), and goals (4). She was a crucial part of the Dons defensive unit that 12.6 shots per game.
Jehnings, a three-time all-conference honoree took home her first all-region honors following a tremendous junior campaign. She finished the year with a career-high 11 goals, which ranked 41
st in the nation, and is fourth most in a single season in USF history. Of her 11 goals, four of them were game winners for the Dons, the four-game winning goals is second most in a single season at USF.
For Madison, earning third team honors is the culmination of her record breaking season. The native of Tracy, Calif., led the Dons with 11 assists, which is a program record for assists in a season – besting the old mark of 10 set by Jannik Abel in 1994. They also led the NCAA at the end of the regular season.
